There are a few primary reasons to have an enduring power of attorney.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

First and foremost, it is the smart decision to make in order to plan for unexpected circumstances.\u00a0 It allows you to clearly indicate which person or persons you wish to be responsible to make decisions on your behalf if you are no longer able to do so.\u00a0 This means, you can assign one person to deal with your health decisions, another with personal matters, and yet another with decisions regarding your estate.\u00a0 You can also grant all this power to one person. However, this power goes into effect only <\/span>if and when<\/span><\/i> you can no longer make these decisions on your own.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Second, having an enduring power of attorney allows you to avoid having this issue go to court, costing you and your loved ones time and money in the future.\u00a0 In the event you do not have an enduring power of attorney, only <\/span>if and when<\/span><\/i> you are no longer mentally fit to make decisions, the Israeli courts will choose a person(s) to do so on your behalf.\u00a0 The person chosen may not have been your first preference, and it can also lead to inner family conflict. Setting this up ahead of time allows you to avoid all of this.<\/span><\/p>\n
